Journalist reveals Spurs expressed interest in German international wing-back

Journalist Jonas Hen Shrag has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs to have expressed an interest in signing Hoffenheim wing-back David Raum.

Raum has enjoyed an impressive first season at Rhein-Neckar-Arena after joining Hoffenheim 12 months ago.

The 24-year-old, who operated at left wing-back as well as in midfield, finished the 2021/22 campaign with 16 goal contributions in the Bundesliga (Transfermarkt).

Spurs have already strengthened at left wing-back this summer with the addition of Ivan Perisic, with reports indicating that the Croat is expected to compete with Ryan Sessegnon for a place in the starting eleven (Football.London).

However, according to Hen Shrag, Tottenham also expressed an interest in Raum at ‘various points’.

The journalist revealed that the likes of Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester United also have their eye on the German international but he added that Hoffenheim have not received an official offer for the 24-year-old.

We know that Paratici tends to identify up to five targets for each position, and perhaps Raum was one of the names on his radar for the left wing-back role. However, now that Perisic has come through the door, Spurs’ interest in the Hoffenheim star would have likely ended.
