Journalist reveals Spurs ‘have begun’ talks with Serie A club over winger

Italian journalist Ekrem Konnur has revealed that Tottenham have made contact with Sampdoria over the signing of Mikkel Damsgaard.

Damsgaard has established himself as an important part of the Sampdoria side since his move to the club in January of last year.

The 20-year-old has been one of Denmark’s most impressive performers in their Euros campaign so far, curling a beauty into the top corner to open the scoring for the Danes in their 4-1 win over Russia on Monday.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg even praised the youngster’s attitude and courage after his fine display in their 2-1 loss to Belgium last week.

Tottenham were first linked with the Sampdoria star back in February and the rumours about the winger have reemerged after Fabio Paratici’s arrival at Spurs with reports claiming that the Lilywhites are weighing up an offer for the winger.

Konnur has also backed up the claim on Spurs’ interest in Damsgaard, revealing that the  North London club are competing with AC Milan for the young attacker.

Both Spurs and Milan are said to have begun official talks with Sampdoria regarding the Dane.

Damsgaard’s value is likely to go up considerably if he keeps performing as well as he has done in the Euros so far. If we are interested, hopefully, Hojbjerg will help sway the youngster to come to Spurs.
