Journalist reveals Spurs have suffered a major blow in the race for Vedat Muriqi

Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Lazio are in advanced negotiations to complete a deal for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Vedat Muriqi.

Signing a back up to Harry Kane is understandably said to be a priority for Spurs during the transfer window (ESPN) and Muriqi is one of the names to have been linked.

Reports indicate that Spurs had a bid turned down by Fenerbahce for the striker during the January transfer window (Turkish TV Channel A Spor) and the Lilywhites were backed to return with another offer this summer (Sabah via Sport Witness).

The Kosovo international was also reported to be on the radar of other Premier League clubs like Leicester City (Askam) and West Brom (Fanatik).

However, it now appears as if the 26-year-old is Serie A bound, with Lazio seemingly close to reaching an agreeing with Fenerbahce for his signature.

Romano took to social media to reveal that Lazio are in talks with the Turkish giants over a €16million (£14.5m) deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Muriqi does fit the profile of a potential ‘plan B’ to Kane, owing to his physical presence, aerial ability and hold up play. I am not surprised he was one of the options we considered in January. However, a lot more strikers seem to have become available now than in January and it looks like we have our sights set on other targets.
