Alasdair Gold has revealed that if Tottenham wish to sign Timo Werner on a permanent basis next summer, they can do so for a transfer fee of just £8.5m.

There had been a lot said and written about whether Tottenham will take up the option to land Werner permanently this summer or whether they will pursue other alternatives.
Instead, the North London club decided to go back to the negotiating table by extending the German international’s loan spell at the club by another 12 months, announcing the agreement struck with RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
According to Florian Plettenberg and other sources, the deal would see the Lilywhites cover the entirety of the 28-year-old’s salary during the 2024-25 season, with Premier League side having the option to sign the player permanently next summer for €15m (£12.7m).
However, Gold has insisted that the permanent option is actually much cheaper, taking to social media to reveal that Spurs would have to pay just €10m (£8.4m) in 2025 to make Werner a Tottenham player.

There is still a long way to go before Tottenham makes a decision on whether to activate the purchase option and it will very much depend on Werner’s displays next season.
A fee of £8.5m seems a fantastic deal, although the forward’s salary is on the higher side.
