Journalist reveals Spurs target is hesitant to sign new contract, wants PL move

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Konrad Laimer is hesitant to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig.

Reports over recent weeks have indicated that Antonio Conte wants to sign two midfielders during the summer transfer window (The Telegraph).

Laimer is thought to be one of the options on the North Londoners’ radar, with Bild reporting earlier this month that Spurs have followed the 24-year-old’s progress for the last two years.

The report added that Man Utd were Tottenham’s main competitors for the Leipzig star’s signature.

Kicker reported last week that Bayern Munich could also enter the race for the Austrian international’s signature in the summer.

Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that Laimer, whose contract at the Red Bull Arena runs out in 12 months, is hesitant to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga club.

The journalist claims that two of the Premier League’s current top five clubs have expressed interest in the midfielder, with the player said to be keen on a move to England.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not see Liverpool or Man City being interested in Laimer. So, it seems likely that Plettenberg is referring to Spurs and Arsenal. I can see why we would be interested as the 24-year-old would be a decent replacement for Harry Winks and is unlikely to prove too expensive given his contract situation.
