Journalist reveals Spurs were ‘auctioning’ youngster who attracted plenty of interest

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed on his Youtube channel that Tottenham Hotspur had no shortage of loan offers for Ryan Sessegnon.

Sessegnon has not made the matchday squad in any of Tottenham’s games so far this season (transfermarkt.com) and the Lilywhites are reportedly willing to loan the youngster out after securing the services of Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid (Daily Mail).

The Telegraph previously claimed that Brighton, Southampton, Burnley and Ajax were showing interest, while Sky Sports revealed that Bundesliga duo, Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim also want to sign him on loan.

Gold has now claimed that Tottenham have been “auctioning” the youngster this summer, with plenty of clubs in the Premier League and Europe vying for his signature.

It has since been widely reported that Sessegnon will join up with Hoffenheim on loan for the season (Sky Sports).

However, Gold’s report seems to suggest that Spurs worked long and hard to find the very best deal amongst a load of suitors this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Mourinho would have preferred to loan Sessegnon out to a Premier League side but the most important thing is that the youngster plays regularly wherever he goes. A move to Bundesliga could be good given that the majority of the sides in the division play a back three with wing-backs, a system that Sessegnon would naturally fit into.
