Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Danny Rose played in central midfield for Tottenham’s Under-23s against Derby County this afternoon and put in a decent display.
This was Rose’s first taste of competitive football since his loan spell at Newcastle United came to an end last season.
The left-back did not manage to secure a move away from the club during the summer transfer window and has subsequently been frozen out of the first-team, with the club not even offering him a squad number.
It was reported last month that Tottenham were looking to release Rose from his contract by reaching a compromise with the defender, but Rose is said to be demanding the club pay out the entire £2.5million-plus that is remaining on his deal.
The England international was named in the starting line up for the clash against Derby’s Under-23s at Hotspur Way this afternoon.
Alfie Devine opened the scoring for the home side but Derby equalised through Jahmal Hector Ingram just before half-time, before Jack Stretton scored a late winner to give the away side all three points.
SofaScore reveals that Rose played on the left-hand side of a three-man midfield alongside Devine and Harvey White and completed all 90 minutes in the 2-1 loss.
