According to Gianluca Di Marzio last night, Antonio Conte will ask for guarantees from Tottenham over economic spending and contract length if he is to accept a move.
Nuno and his staff were relieved of their duties in N17 this morning and Conte is now rumoured to be flying into London ahead of a potential deal.
Di Marzio previously predicted that Tottenham would push ahead with a move for Conte should they sack the former Wolves boss.
The report claimed that Conte remained on top of Spurs’ wishlist and despite the club’s failure to strike a deal with the Italian in the summer, it is explained that the situation could now be different.
Di Marzio added that Conte wants to return to management and with Manchester United’s win on Saturday saving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future for now, he is now ‘evaluating’ the Tottenham project.
The journalist suggests that Conte could say ‘yes’ to a reunion with Fabio Paratici, who he worked with at Juventus.
However, he also explains that the former Chelsea boss will ask for ‘the guarantee of an important technical and economic project’ from Spurs.

To convince Conte to join, it is said that Tottenham will have to put a multi-year contract on the table and agree to strengthen the squad to make it more competitive.

One would imagine that the main reason Spurs could not reach an agreement with Conte during the summer was probably because they found his demands to be excessive. The Italian is likely to demand a lot more if Spurs go back for him now as he is in a very strong position.
Conte knows that he could be sought after by Manchester United as soon as Solskjaer suffers another defeat. So, it is also possible that he is talking to Spurs to potentially put pressure on the United hierarchy.
