According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Tottenham Hotspur would have to pay up a whopping £70m to land Dominic Solanke before tonight’s transfer deadline.
Spurs have strengthened their attack with the acquisition of Timo Werner this month, with the German international making a bright start to his spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, it was reported by The Sun on Tuesday that the Lilywhites are eyeing a sensational late swoop for a centre-forward, with Solanke alleged to have emerged as a target for the club.
The report claimed that Ange Postecoglou’s men would be willing to pay more than £50m to bring the 26-year-old to N17 before the window slams shut.
This suggestion was rubbished by Ben Jacobs on Wednesday, with the journalist suggesting that while Tottenham do respect Solanke, he is not on the club’s radar for the time being.

Bournemouth want a mammoth fee for Solanke
Crook has now stated that the Cherries would only let their star striker leave the Vitality Stadium on deadline day if they receive an offer of £70m, which he suggested is well beyond what Daniel Levy would be willing to offer.
Crook told talkSPORT: “Dominic Solanke has obviously had a brilliant first half of the season, he’s already scored more goals in this campaign than in any of his previous seasons in the Premier League. You can understand why he would be attracting interest.
“I know that West Ham United in the summer made contact with Bournemouth, but that didn’t really go anywhere. I think it would take an offer of at least £70m to persuade Bournemouth to even contemplate doing business between now and 11 pm tomorrow.
“It’s not really the type of number that Daniel Levy would really get to in a January transfer window. So, I think Solanke will stay, but I think if he maintains the form that he’s been in so far, then come the summer, there’ll be a few teams who may be trying to prise him away from the south coast.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Even if Tottenham had £50m-£70m to splash on transfer deadline day, the suggestion that they would spend it on a centre-forward makes very little sense. Surely, if Spurs are willing to spend that kind of money, they would do so to sign Conor Gallagher.
