Journalist reveals the truth about Tottenham’s rumoured pursuit of Kim-min Jae

Goal’s Korean football journalist, Steve Han has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur never made a serious offer for Kim Min-Jae this summer.

It was reported last month that Spurs were close to sealing the signing of the central defender (Sports.news.naver via TEAMtalk) but the speculation linking the North Londoners with the South Korean international has died down over recent weeks.

Eindhovens Dagblad revealed last week that PSV Eindhoven had entered the race for the 23-year-old, with head coach Joe Schmidt rating the Beijing Guoan defender very highly.

However, Han has now revealed that Lazio are the only club to make an offer for Kim this summer, with Tottenham’s interest never going beyond making an enquiry.

The journalist also revealed that Beijing Guoan have made it clear that they will sell the centre-back only if their €15million asking price is met.

He claimed that PSV have now dropped out of the race for the defender’s signature due to the high price while Lazio have so far only offered €12m for Kim.

If Tottenham are interested in Kim, one would presume that the €15m asking price would not really put us off. However, based on the latest reports coming out of China and Korea, it does not seem as if we are one of the front-runners for his signature anymore. I suspect that we now have our eye on another centre-back target, which reports indicate could be Milan Skriniar.
