Journalist reveals Tottenham are continuing to look at 22-goal striker

Journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Lille superstar Jonathan David very much remains an option for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer transfer window.

Even though Richarlison has been among the goals since December and Son Heung-min has excelled whenever he has been asked to lead the line, reports indicate that Tottenham are expected to enter the market for a marquee number nine this summer (Football Insider).

Earlier this month, HITC suggested that Spurs are one of a whole host of Premier League clubs eyeing a move for David, who is having another prolific season at Lille, with 22 goals to his name across all competition so far.

It looks like Tottenham will have to overcome Man Utd to land the 24-year-old, with TEAMtalk suggesting last week that the Red Devils are ‘desperate’ to land the Canadian international.

Tottenham are still looking at Jonathan David

Jones has now named David as one of two options Spurs are looking at alongside Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, who has also been heavily linked with a move to N17.

The journalist said on The Debrief: “Is Son going to stay on and lead the line? Or do they still need a leading striker? That will be interesting. Tottenham have looked at a variety of players from Joshua Zirkzee to someone like Jonathan David who still hasn’t gone anywhere.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Spurs spent over £50m on a player like Ivan Toney or Jonathan David unless they decide to offload Richarlison this summer, which although unlikely, cannot be completely ruled out, especially if they were to receive a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia for the Brazilian.
