Journalist reveals Tottenham’s plans for Aurier and Doherty on deadline day

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has revealed there are clubs who are showing an interest in Serge Aurier but the decision over his future will ultimately come down to the player himself.

According to some sources, Tottenham have agreed on a fee of €30m (£25.7m) with Barcelona for the transfer of Emerson Royal.

The Brazilian’s arrival would leave Nuno Espirito Santo with four senior right-backs, with Aurier, Matt Doherty and Japhet Tanganga already at the club.

It has been no secret that Spurs have been trying to find a buyer for Aurier all summer but Fabio Paratici and co have been unsuccessful in their efforts so far.

According to Matt Law, the North London club are still hopeful of moving on one of either Doherty or Aurier on transfer deadline day.

The journalist stated that clubs have expressed an interest in the Ivory Coast international but insisted that it will ultimately come down to whether Aurier wants to join any of them.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would think that Spurs would not push ahead with a move for Emerson unless they were confident that they could find a buyer for one of Doherty or Aurier.

The problem is that Aurier might not necessarily be pushing for a move as he knows he will be getting lucrative terms if he signs for a club as a free agent next summer.
