The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has told the Ask Ornstein Podcast that Julian Nagelsmann and Ralph Hasenhuttl are the two most likely candidates to replace Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur should the club part ways with the Portuguese coach at the end of the season.
Tottenham have gone from title contenders to mid-table within a space of just two months.
Previous reports indicated that Mourinho is under no immediate danger of being sacked as Daniel Levy continues to have faith in the 58-year-old.
Pitt-Brooke stated that Mourinho is likely to remain at North London until the end of the season but he insisted that he would not be surprised if Levy decided to make a managerial change in the summer.
The journalist said: “In terms of what Spurs would do next if he were to go. The two names I have heard from sources have been Julian Nagelsmann and Ralph Hasenhuttl as potential replacements for Mourinho, should he have to go.
“I don’t think that we are in that situation at the moment. Speaking to a source familiar with Daniel Levy’s thinking the other day, I don’t think they’ll be any imminent decision on this.
“I think it will depend on the League Cup and the Europa League and the end to the Premier League campaign.
“But is is quite possible that there will be a change of direction at Tottenham in the summer.”

I am not convinced that there is any truth to assertions that Levy is looking at possible replacements for Mourinho at the moment. While results obviously need to improve over the next couple of months, Mourinho is still capable of turning things around and we could still end the season with a trophy and a top-four finish, which would represent a successful season.
