Journalist reveals Villarreal have ‘full agreement’ for Lo Celso loan – Option-to-buy

Tyc Sports Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo has revealed that Villarreal have reached a ‘full agreement’ regarding a loan deal for Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Lo Celso has struggled for minutes under Antonio Conte at Tottenham and the writing seemed on the wall for the midfielder when he was left out of Spurs’ matchday squad against Chelsea.

It now looks like the Argentine is set to return to La Liga, where he hit the limelight for Real Betis in the 2018/19 campaign before Tottenham snapped him up.

Merlo has now revealed on social media that Villarreal are expected to sign the Tottenham man on loan with Unai Emery’s side having the option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

However, he did add that Villarreal need to move one of their players on before finalising Lo Celso’s signing.

The journalist suggested that if the Spanish club are not able to do so before this evening’s deadline, a move to Lyon would be Lo Celso’s plan B.

Spurs were never going to be able to find permanent buyers for the likes of Lo Celso and Ndombele in January. So, Paratici has taken the right approach by loaning them out.

Tottenham will be hoping that the Argentine shines at Villarreal (if the move goes through) so that they can get a decent fee for the midfielder in the summer.
