Journalist reveals what he has heard about interest in Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been cast into doubt after the Dane recently admitted that he would like to leave the club this summer to seek a new challenge (Ekstra Bladet).

After six seasons in North London, Eriksen wants to join a ‘bigger club’ with the playmaker having previously been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid but the Spanish giants are reported to be keen to sign Manchester United’s Paul Pogba ahead of the Spurs man (Marca).

Eriksen is out of contract at the end of next season and will be able to talk to European clubs from January about a possible move where he could walk away from the club for free following the 2019/20 campaign.

Manchester United have emerged as having an interest in Eriksen as a potential replacement for Pogba, who has publicly stated that he is open to a move away from Old Trafford (Evening Standard).

However, according to football journalist Tom McDermott, Eriksen and his team have told United that he has no desire to make the move to them with his preference still on a swithc to Spain.

Opinion

Eriksen’s apparent rejection of United could certainly have repercussions for a potential Pogba move to Madrid. Who knows? Maybe Eriksen is telling United no so he moves ahead of the Frenchman on Madrid’s shopping list.
