Journalist reveals what he has heard from Danjuma’s camp amidst Spurs links

Michael Bridge has suggested Villarreal could lean towards selling forward Arnaut Danjuma to flesh out their squad this summer amidst links of a potential move to Tottenham.

Danjuma has impressed in his first season with the Spanish club after sealing a transfer from Bournemouth ahead of the campaign.

The 25-year-old has tallied 16 goals in all competitions this term (Transfermarkt) and played a big role in helping Unai Emery’s side reach the Champions League semi-final.

Tottenham were thought to have had representatives in attendance to watch Danjuma in action for the Yellow Submarine against Liverpool, as well as defensive teammate Pau Torres (90min).

Although the Dutchman did not feature and was ruled out through injury, Sky Sports reporter Bridge has claimed he could leave Villarreal to keep up his goal of playing at the top level and feels the club could look to cash in on him while his stock is high.

Bridge told GiveMeSport: “I’ve spoken to a few people in his camp recently and I just got that impression that they’re an ambitious group of people and he’s an ambitious man.

“Villarreal, obviously, do amazing things in a small, little town, but if Emery is looking to strengthen next season, they’re a club that can maybe get one out of the door to bring five in. They might look to Danjuma.”

Danjuma would be a good option to bring in to bolster Antonio Conte’s attacking options, especially with an extra two substitutes coming into action in the Premier League next season.

His season will mean that Villarreal are likely to demand a pretty hefty amount, though, but if Spurs are to pursue players of that calibre then high price tags will be the norm.
