Journalist reveals what Paratici will like about Spurs’ new Performance Director

Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that, just like Fabio Paratici, Tottenham’s new performance director Gretar Steinsson is a workaholic.

It first emerged around three weeks ago that Steinsson, who was working as Everton’s head of recruitment, was set to join Tottenham.

The Athletic did an exhaustive profile of the former Bolton right-back last week, explaining all the things he is expected to bring to the table.

The report revealed that the 40-year-old will directly report to Paratici and that he will be involved in several different areas including scouting and recruitment.

It was stated that Steinsson had built a reputation as a no-nonsense operator, who was known for his honesty and straightforwardness.

The Athletic also revealed that the former Everton head of recruitment shares several beliefs with Paratici and Antonio Conte, including the importance of signing Premier League-ready players.

Eccleshare has now explained that just like the Spurs managing director of football, Steinsson is known for his work ethic.

The journalist told The Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel about Tottenham’s new performance director: “Generally he did a pretty sound job (at Everton).

“The impression I get from everyone I speak to is that he’s straight-talking, just tells it as it is and he’s a workaholic which will sit well with Paratici who is going to report into.

“He’s got a wide-ranging brief, helping the first-team, the academy side, data analytics and sports science.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Everton’s poor record when it comes to recruitment might worry some Spurs fans but Steinsson might not be the one to blame for it, given the well-publicised dysfunction among the Toffees’ hierarchy.

Paratici has got most of his decisions spot on since arriving at Tottenham and so, there is no reason to think he has not nailed this one as well.
