Journalist reveals what sources have said about Micky Van de Ven’s personality behind closed doors

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has revealed that his sources at Hotspur Way have given a glowing assessment of Micky van de Ven’s personality.

It is fair to say that when Van de Ven arrived at Tottenham last summer, not all Spurs fans were convinced about the signing, with some feeling that the club simply went for the cheaper alternative to Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.

However, it is fair to say that not a single Tottenham supporter would now swap the Dutchman with Tapsoba or with any other left-sided centre-back in the world for that matter.

Such has been the impact of the 22-year-old, who has shown maturity beyond his years and proven an ideal foil for the more aggressive Cristian Romero.

Micky Van de Ven is a class act on and off the pitch

Pitt-Brooke has now revealed that the Netherlands’ international has also made an excellent impression off the pitch, with many at the North London club said to be impressed by the centre-back’s personality and intelligence.

The journalist told the Last Word on Spurs podcast: “I get the impression that’s what Van de Ven is like, personally I have never met Van de Ven, so I can’t talk too much about what he’s like, but everything I’ve heard is that he’s a really impressive guy, very smart, very humble, very thoughtful, very dedicated to his football, and that’s what you need.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It has been well documented that Ange puts as much emphasis on players’ personalities as he does their quality when deciding on transfer targets. That approach has certainly paid off as we have a squad full of great characters at the moment.
