Journalist reveals what sources have told him about Spurs’ pursuit of Vedat Muriqi

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham do not consider Vedat Muriqi a viable target this summer.

Among the strikers who have been linked with Tottenham over the past few months, Muriqi’s name has cropped up more often than most.

Reports from Turkey indicated that Fenerbahçe star is keen on joining Spurs and linking up with Jose Mourinho (Fanatik via Sport Witness).

Muriqi’s international manager, Agim Ademi, even claimed that Spurs were ready to pay whatever Fenerbahce demanded for the striker this summer (GazetaOlle). The 26-year-old is reported to be available for just €15 million (Askam).

However, Gold has indicated that Spurs will not be making an offer for the Kosovo international this summer.

Speaking about the club’s pursuit of a back-up to Harry Kane, he said: “I’ve seen Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi linked in recent days with Spurs and while the club do have a relationship with the Turkish club, those inside Tottenham seem to indicate the 26-year-old is not currently a viable target.”

Spurs Web Opinion

To me, Muriqi does seem a great fit but perhaps the club are having doubts about whether he has the quality required to shine in the Premier League. Even if we do not go for Muriqi, I expect us to sign a striker with similar attributes as we haven’t had a plan B since Fernando Llorente left last summer.
