Journalist reveals when Troy Parrott is expected to return following surgery

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has provided a potential return date for Tottenham striker Troy Parrott. Spurs confirmed last week that the 18-year-old will miss the restart of the season after undergoing surgery to have his appendix removed.

Parrott has not made the impact at Spurs this season that some would have expected as the youngster has found minutes on the pitch few and far between, despite the injuries to Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

With Tottenham’s forward players now fit, some Spurs fans suggested that the teenager’s injury would not be a big blow as he is unlikely to be used by Jose Mourinho anyway.

However, it turns out that the Republic of Ireland international is not facing a sustained spell on the sidelines. In fact, Gold confirmed that Parrott is expected to recover in time to return to first-team training by the end of this month.

This could mean that the striker may only miss Tottenham first two games after the restart.

In all likelihood, Parrott is not going to start any of the nine games left we have this season. However, with the rules being changed to allow teams to name nine substitutes instead of the usual seven and make five substitutions in a match instead of three, the youngster could potentially come on if we are chasing a game.
