Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has been discussing Lucas Moura’s next steps since being released by Tottenham Hotspur, and it sounds like the player is heading for Saudi Arabia next season.

Moura signed for Spurs from PSG back in 2018 and went on to make 221 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 39 goals and registering 27 assists during his time in North London (Transfermarkt).

His spell with Tottenham ended in style when he came on as a substitute in the final Premier League game of the season against Leeds, and scored a wonderful solo effort to crown a 4-1 victory at Elland Road.

The Brazilian’s contract came to an end this summer and Spurs opted against offering Moura a new deal, thus releasing him to be a free agent and find a new club during this transfer window.

While there was speculation linking Moura with Crystal Palace (GiveMeSport), more recently it became clear that the 30-year-old would not remain in the Premier League.

Instead, there has been growing talk of him joining a team in Saudi Arabia (UOL).

Lucas Moura is destined for Saudi Arabia

Now, the latest update comes courtesy of Jorge Nicola, who has been following Moura’s movements closely.

The journalist was speaking on his YouTube channel to confirm that Moura is indeed heading for a club in Saudi Arabia.

Nicola claims that Moura did not receive suitable offers from any top clubs in Europe, and as such has progressed discussions with two Saudi clubs.

The journalist did not reveal which clubs were in talks with Moura, but it is believed one of the top four clubs in the country are after the Brazilian.

That would mean that Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ahli, or Al Ittihad are in the running. Nicola describes the other club talking to Moura as a “modest” club. It is suggested Moura will decide on which club to sign for in the coming days.

Fair play to Moura, if he can’t get a competitive team in Europe, he may as well head over to Saudi Arabia for a big payday before he retires.
