Journalist reveals whether Harry Kane actually wants to join Bayern Munich

Harry Kane is believed to have made it clear that he does want to join Bayern Munich this summer amid reports of the German club submitting an official bid for the Tottenham Hotspur star.

The 29-year-old faces a most pivotal crossroads in his career right now. With just one year left on his current contract, there is talk that now may be the optimal time for Kane to move on in search of trophies.

It has been a bittersweet year for Kane. On a personal level, the striker became Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer in February of this year, and followed that up by breaking Wayne Rooney’s record for England a month later.

However, he was unable to take England past the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year. As for Tottenham, it was a miserable campaign which saw the North London side finish eighth in the Premier League and crash out of all cup competitions.

Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for Kane for some time now (The Athletic). And, according to Christian Falk for Caught Offside, Kane and his family would consider that move to Germany.

Now, things appear to be developing as The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed today that the Bundesliga side had made an official bid for Kane.

While that offer is expected to be rejected according to Alasdair Gold, Tottenham may still be concerned to hear that Kane himself does want the move.

That’s according to Florian Plettenberg, who tweeted: “It’s correct, Bayern has submitted a first official offer for Kane. First call by David Ornstein. Offer confirmed.

“Understand the first offer was less than €70m plus bonus payments. Rejected from Spurs.

“As reported: Kane, top striker target for Bayern now – as Kane made clear that he wants to join Bayern.”

Kane may want to join Bayern, and Bayern may be making moves, but I don’t think the German side can actually afford the kind of fee Spurs will demand for the player.

Unless something changes financially on their end, I can’t see this deal going ahead.
