Gianluca Di Marzio has ruled out the possibility of Christian Eriksen reuniting with Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.
Eriksen has not played competitively since suffering a cardiac arrest in Denmark’s Euro 2020 clash against Finland in June.
The Dane had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device fitted on his heart after the scare, which meant he could no longer continue plying his trade in Serie A as he does not meet the league’s requirements of sporting fitness.
The Nerazzurri confirmed earlier this month that they had reached an agreement with the 29-year-old to terminate his contract.
The midfielder is now said to be training on his own at Danish club Odense Boldklub, for whom he played as a youngster.
Some Spurs fans on social media have called for the former Ajax man to be brought back to N17.
However, Di Marzio has now explained that the demands of the Premier League and Conte’s system would prove too much for Eriksen to cope with.

When asked about a potential return to Spurs for the Denmark international, the journalist told to Danish outlet Spilxperten (as relayed by Football.London): “I do not think it (a move to Tottenham) will be possible. Tottenham have started a new era under Antonio Conte.
“What Antonio Conte demands of his players is too much for Christian (Eriksen).
“He needs weeks and months to get back to the right rhythm and intensity. The Premier League is a tournament that is not waiting for you.
“It is impossible for him to get fit to play in such a club with that intensity right away. So I think Denmark or the Netherlands will be the best solution for him.”

I do not expect any of the clubs in the top five leagues in Europe to take the risk of signing Eriksen. He will likely have to resume his career in Denmark.
I do hope that he gets back playing competitively if he is passed fit to do so as it would be devastating for the 29-year-old to be forced to hang up his boots so early.
