Journalist reveals whether Millwall have the option to buy Japhet Tanganga from Spurs

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has confirmed that there is no option or obligation to buy included in Japhet Tanganga’s loan move to Millwall.

Tanganga might have hoped to get his career back on track at Augsburg following a few difficult seasons but his time in Germany proved to be a disaster.

The versatile defender did not make a single appearance during the first half of the campaign and it did not come as a surprise when Spurs decided to prematurely end his stay in Germany.

The Spurs academy graduate will now drop down to the Championship in an effort to get regular game time under his belt, with reports indicating that he is now on the verge of a loan switch to The Den.

Millwall currently sit in 16th place in the Championship and Tanganga would perhaps fancy his chances of being a starter for Joe Edwards’s men.

No option to buy Japhet Tanganga for Millwall

Eccleshare has now taken to social media to confirm that the 24-year-old will return to Hotspur Way at the end of the season as the Lions do not have an option to buy the defender.

The likes of Harry Winks and Joe Rodon have benefited immensely from taking a step down to the Championship and the same will likely happen to Tanganga, who desperately needs regular game time.

If the 24-year-old stays free of injuries, I have no doubt that he will do well enough at the Den to attract significant Premier League interest next summer.
