Journalist reveals whether Romero is expected to make squad for West Ham game

The Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has revealed that Cristian Romero is expected to be a part of Tottenham’s matchday squad for the clash against West Ham United on Wednesday.

Tottenham announced on Tuesday that they had activated the option to buy Romero permanently, over 12 months on from his initial loan switch from Atalanta.

According to reports, the deal is expected to be worth a total of £46.5m (Standard), which the North London club will certainly consider good value for money, given the impact the Argentine has made since he arrived at the club.

Romero picked up an abductor injury in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea a couple of weeks ago and has subsequently missed the clashes against Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

Antonio Conte revealed in his press conference on Monday that the centre-back has started training with the team ahead of their London derby against the Hammers (Football.London).

Kilpatrick has now revealed that the 24-year-old is expected to be part of the matchday squad that travels to the London Stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think we will see Romero starting tomorrow as Conte will not want to take any risks at this stage of the season. So, I expect Sanchez to be given the nod but it will be interesting to see if there is any rotation in the back three.

I would be surprised if Conte gave Lenglet a start tomorrow as I suspect that the Italian will want to keep the back three as it is. I expect Doherty, Bissouma and Richarlison to get their first starts of the season.
