Journalist reveals whether Wout Weghorst and Jesse Lingard are really Spurs targets

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that the speculation linking Tottenham with moves for Jesse Lingard and Wout Weghorst is wide of the mark.

Gold reveals that, despite Tottenham making five signings so far this transfer window, Jose Mourinho is still not satisfied with the club’s business.

It is said that the Spurs boss wants one more centre-back and a striker to be signed before the deadline, in addition to moving on several of the fringe players in the squad.

The report claims that Andrea Belotti and Danny Ings are likely to prove too expensive for Spurs to sign while the North Londoners are not said to be looking at Weghorst as an option.

As far as centre-backs are concerned, Gold reveals that Benfica man Ruben Dias is the one Jose Mourinho wants but it is suggested that his price tag might also be an issue for the North Londoners.

The club are still said to hold an interest in Kim-Min Jae, with a decision expected shortly from Spurs on whether or not they believe the South Korean is ready to make the step up.

Spurs Web Opinion

If we bring in a centre-back and a striker before the deadline, no one can argue that we have not had a good transfer window. However, on the back of the recent outlay into the squad, I do not expect us to spend over £20 million in either position. We could also potentially be waiting to see what kind of money we can bring in for our fringe players before making bids for our targets.
