Journalist reveals ‘whisper’ that 26-year-old is leaning towards Newcastle, not Spurs

Journalist Craig Hope has revealed that he has heard from his sources that Tosin Adarabioyo is leaning towards joining Newcastle United this summer.

Adarabioyo is expected to leave Fulham as a free agent this June but it appears as if Spurs have an uphill battle to sign the 26-year-old after he turned down the North London club’s proposal earlier this week (Paul O Keefe).

A couple of days ago, Foot Mercato suggested that while Spurs and Magpies are continuing to battle it out for the centre-back, it is Eddie Howe’s men who hold an advantage in the race.

It was alleged that Tottenham were simply not able to offer the Fulham star the sporting guarantees he was seeking while the player has had positive talks with Howe regarding a move to St James’ Park.

Adarabioyo is leaning towards Newcastle over Spurs

Hope has now reiterated the same thing, stating that Newcastle are ready to offer Adarabioyo a starting role and that the centre-back is leaning towards moving to the North East.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “Newcastle are exploring that market. Talks have taken place with both players. I wrote this in my notebook column on Friday.

“Tosin Adarabioyo knows where Newcastle see him fitting in potentially in their plans next season. I think they would see him as a starting centre-back and I’ve just got a little whisper that he might be leaning towards a move to St James’ Park.”

If Howe promises Adarabioyo that he will be a starter, it is an obvious choice for the centre-back to pick Newcastle. Looking at Dragusin’s struggles for game time at Spurs, the Englishman would not fancy his chances of getting a lot of minutes in North London.
