Journalist reveals why Emerson Royal joked he does not trust Lucas Moura anymore

Sky Sports journalist James Green has revealed that Emerson Royal joked he does not trust Lucas Moura to be his English teacher any longer.

Emerson has endured a difficult first season at Tottenham following his move from Barcelona last summer.

The 23-year-old has struggled to adapt to the right wing-back role since Antonio Conte arrived at the club and had lost his place in the starting eleven to Matt Doherty until the former Wolves man’s injury.

Reports have indicated that Spurs are willing to listen to offers for the right-back this summer, with Conte said to be keen on signing a new right wing-back (The Sun).

While Emerson has endured his challenges on the field, he has seemingly managed to settle in well based on his rapport with his Tottenham teammates.

He has his compatriot Lucas to thank for that as the former PSG man served as his English teacher during his first few months in London.

However, Emerson has revealed that he no longer trusts Lucas as the 29-year-old keeps stitching him up with the wrong translations.

Here’s what Green tweeted about his interactions with the Tottenham right-back:

Spurs Web Opinion

Emerson genuinely seems like a great guy and he gives his all out on the pitch. I feel sorry for him as he was never signed to be a wing-back and has been thrust into a position where he is not comfortable.

I do not think Spurs have any choice but to move him on in the summer as Conte is unlikely to move away from his tried and tested formation.
