Journalist reveals why Giovani Lo Celso missed Europa League match against Ludogorets

It was perhaps a little bit of a surprise to see Tanguy Ndombele start Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-0 win over Ludogorets yesterday evening, given that the all-important clash against Chelsea is coming up this weekend.

The midfielder was the only player to keep his place in the starting eleven from the side that beat Manchester City on Saturday.

The fact that he was playing as one of the two pivots alongside Harry Winks instead of a number ten suggested that the Frenchman may had been shoehorned into the team in place of Giovani Lo Celso at the last moment.

Jose Mourinho failed to even name Lo Celso on the bench, which only raised suspicions further.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold indeed confirmed that the midfielder, who scored Tottenham’s second goal against City on Saturday, picked up a knock in training which put him out of last night’s clash.

There is no confirmation as of yet on how serious his injury is but Tottenham fans will be hoping that Lo Celso is fit to play a part against Chelsea at the weekend.
