Journalist reveals why Harry Kane did not feature for Spurs against Nice

The Sun’s Tom Barclay has revealed that Harry Kane is now back in training at Hotspur Way after just missing the 1-1 friendly draw against Nice.

Except for Hugo Lloris, Ivan Perisic and Cristian Romero, whose respective nations made it to the latter stages of the World Cup, the other Spurs stars are now back in London ahead of the Premier League’s resumption.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg started the clash against Nice yesterday while Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Pape Matar Sarr and Son Heung-min got their first minutes after returning from Qatar.

However, Kane was not part of Tottenham’s matchday squad for the clash against the Ligue 1 side.

The England captain had to cope with the heartbreak of elimination in the quarterfinal two weeks ago, with his penalty miss costing the Three Lions a potential place in the final four.

Barclay has now taken to social media to reveal that Kane only returned to training this morning, which is why he did not feature against Nice.

I fully expect Kane to start the Boxing Day clash against Brentford, particularly with Richarlison out injured. The 29-year-old will be keen to get on the scoresheet as soon as possible so that he can put the penalty miss against France behind him.
