Journalist rubbishes claim two Premier League clubs are keen on Spurs defender

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has contradicted Alasdair Gold’s recent transfer update regarding Djed Spence, insisting that neither Leicester City nor Brentford are interested in signing the Tottenham right-back on loan this month.

Tottenham strengthened their forward line with the addition of Arnaut Danjuma on Wednesday and it now appears only a matter of time before they add reinforcement at right wing-back too.

Fabrizio Romano took to social media on Wednesday evening to reveal that Spurs are ‘really close’ to striking a full agreement with Sporting Lisbon for Pedro Porro, with the move expected to be completed within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Gold revealed on Football.London yesterday that given Porro’s impending arrival, Spence has been given the green light to leave on loan, with Brentford and Leicester both said to be interested in the former Middlesbrough man.

However, Thomas has now taken to social media to reveal that neither club are in the running for the 22-year-old, explaining the Foxes are prioritising signing a centre-back and a winger while the Bees are not likely to sign any player before the window slams shut.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think it would be too hard for Tottenham to find a Premier League club to loan Spence to, given the number of top-flight clubs who showed interest in the 22-year-old back in the summer. However, the challenge would be to find a club where the youngster is likely to get regular game time.
