Journalist rules out Spurs move for two alleged Conte targets – Provides Kessie update

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Marcelo Brozovic and Stefan De Vrij are unlikely to leave Inter Milan amidst speculation linking the pair with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Brozovic’s current contract runs out at the end of the season and reports have indicated that Antonio Conte wants to reunite with the midfielder at Tottenham.

However, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta confidently asserted last week that the midfielder will commit his future to the club.

Meanwhile, some sources have claimed that Conte has asked Spurs to make De Vrij the club’s top transfer target in January.

Football Insider have also alleged that the Netherlands international would be open to the prospect of reuniting with the Italian at North London.

However, in an interview with Sky Sports, Di Marzio has now poured cold water on both those links, insisting that the Nerrazuri are unlikely to let either Brozovic or De Vrij go.

The journalist further added that Fabio Paratici and Conte are targetting top young players as part of their rebuild, with the Inter duo not fitting into the profile of players they are looking for.

Di Marzio finally said that AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie could be a target for Spurs but any transfer for the Ivorian is only likely to happen next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems pretty apparent now that Brozovic will be putting pen to paper on a new contract. However, I would not be surprised if Conte and Paratici were seriously considering a move for De Vrij.

While it does make sense to target young, upcoming players as part of the rebuild, the Spurs backline does lack experience and Conte might view De Vrij as the stable influence that the defence needs.
