The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that there is a lot for Spurs fans to be excited about with Jamie Donley, with the attacking midfielder having the natural confidence one would see in top players.
Among the current Under-21 set-up at Tottenham, which consists of a whole host of fabulously talented players, Donley is evidently the closest to establishing himself as a first-team regular.
In fact, the 19-year-old has trained regularly with the senior squad over the last few months and has even come on four four substitute appearances for the first team, which is a clear show of faith by Ange Postecoglou.
While Donley was originally an attacking midfielder, the youngster has operated in a number of positions for Wayne Burnett’s men this season, demonstrating his eye for goal.
In an interview with Football.London earlier this week the teenager admitted that he is happy to play any position that Postecoglou wants him to but revealed that he tries to model his game on James Maddison’s.

Jamie Donley has that big player aura
Eccleshare has now said that Donely also possesses the natural aura and confidence that one sees from the former Leicester City man.
The journalist said on The View from The Lane podcast about the Spurs academy midfielder: “Everyone speaks about his versatility, I’ve been told he can play as a 10, an eight, a right winger, he played one game for the academy last season as a centre-back.
“He is technically outstanding. From what I’m told he has that aura and confidence, not arrogance, but that thing the best players have, a bit like James Maddison, and maybe there are some similarities between those two as well.”

To play so many different positions at such a young age, one not only has to have sufficient technical quality but also needs to possess a natural tactical acumen. The youngster’s versatility is a clear sign that he has a mature head on his young shoulders.
