Tottenham’s North London rivals  Arsenal are now said to be leading the race to sign Willian, according to ESPN Brazil journalist Jorge Nicola (as relayed by the Evening Standard).

The Chelsea star will be out of contract this summer and he has admitted that talks with the Blues over a new deal have hit a dead-end (Gazeta Esportiva).

Tottenham were initially established as the favourites to land him once he becomes a free agent by Mundo Deportivo while Football Insider also backed the Lilywhites to move early and offer the 31-year-old a bumper deal.

However, there have been contradictory reports since, with Sport (via Sport Witness) revealing last week that he was in talks with Liverpool over a potential switch to Anfield.

It looks as if there has now been yet another twist in the tale as it has been suggested that the Brazilian could now end up at the Emirates. Jorge Nicola (via Evening Standard) claims that the Chelsea star could be set to be reunited with ex-teammate David Luiz at Arsenal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Free agents are going to be sought after like never before this transfer window due to the financial constraints that clubs are facing. So, it certainly won’t be easy for us to pull off the rumoured deals for the likes of Willian and Thomas Meiuner unless we are willing to offer them a bumper contract, which I cannot see Daniel Levy doing.
