Journalist says Paratici could decrease Spurs chances of dealing with Inter Milan

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has explained that Tottenham might have to shelve their plans to raid Inter Milan this summer due to Fabio Paratici’s strained relationship with Inter CEO of Sport, Beppe Marotta.

Paratici’s appointment is expected to be officially announced by Spurs soon, with the former Juventus man already said to be working on identifying the club’s next manager.

Despite Tottenham calling off their talks with Antonio Conte last week, reports indicate that the North London club could still make a move for multiple Inter players this summer, taking advantage of the Serie A club’s dire financial situation.

However, Gold notes that signing any players from the Nerrazuri is likely to prove difficult for Spurs, now that Paratici will be spearheading the club’s transfer efforts.

He explains that Marotta has a long history with Paratici, having taken him to Juventus from Sampdoria in 2010 as head of scouting.

When Marotta resigned from Juve in 2018, the Italian media reportedly speculated that he made the decision after butting heads with Paratici over the Cristiano Ronaldo deal, with Paratici going above Marotta’s head to the chairman, Andrea Agnelli.

Gold added that after Marotta moved to Inter, Paratici inherited a larger, all-encompassing role to take on the 64-year-old’s duties and that the pair are not thought to be on good terms with one another.

If Tottenham decide to go in for one of Inter’s players or vice versa, one would imagine that Marotta and Paratici would be able to put their differences aside in order to do deals that are in the best interests of the clubs they represent.
