Journalist Dean Jones has written in his column on GiveMeSport that Tottenham Hotspur have already identified two positions to strengthen during the January transfer window.
Tottenham were one of the busiest clubs in Europe during the summer, starting the transfer window by activating the option to sign Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro permanently before going to secure the services of Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Alejo Veliz, Micky van de Ven, Ashley Phillips and Brennan Johnson.
There was also a mass exodus, with Harry Winks, Harry Kane, and Davinson Sanchez leaving on a permanent basis while Djed Spence, Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga, Sergio Reguilon and Tanguy Ndombele were all loaned out.
However, there is still a lingering feeling that the North London club could have done more towards the end, with the likes of Eric Dier and Hugo Lloris remaining at the club, while Ange Postecoglou is now also dangerously short of options at centre-back.
Spurs are already formulating January plans
According to Jones’ latest update, the Lilywhites are already looking towards the January transfer window and are planning to strengthen a couple of key areas.
The journalist claims that the expectation at Spurs is that they would return to the market to sign an additional forward and a defender.

Transfer deals are always more difficult to do in January as not many clubs would want to let important players leave mid-season. However, there is no doubt that we need to sign a centre-back when the transfer window reopens.
Additionally, another central midfielder could be on Postecoglou’s wishlist, depending on whether Hojbejrg leaves and how Bentancur recovers from his injury.
