Journalist says Spurs are ‘seriously looking’ at £25m Championship starlet

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Bristol City youngster Alex Scott looks set to be on the move this summer, and Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be ‘seriously looking’ at signing the player.

Scott is a product of the Bristol City youth team, having joined the club from FC Guernsey at a young age.

The promising winger now has five goals and seven assists for the club in 83 appearances (Transfermarkt).

At just 19 years of age, it’s rather impressive that Scott is approaching 100 first-team appearances at any level, but Scott has been catching the eye in the second-tier of English football over the last 18 months now.

With 41 appearances in all competitions this season already (Transfermarkt), Scott has missed just one game for Bristol City.

How long he continues to play for the club remains to be seen, however, as speculation mounts surrounding his future.

The Sun reported last month that Spurs, Newcastle United, and West Ham were all monitoring Scott’s situation.

Football Insider added that the Lilywhites were impressed with what they had seen from the wonderkid after scouting him throughout the season.

The latest from Jacobs suggests Scott is Premier League bound this summer, and the journalist has named three teams to watch in the race for his signature.

On Twitter, Jacobs said: “Alex Scott expected to leave Bristol City this summer, as revealed in December.

“Concrete proposals arrived in January, but Bristol City held out for near-double what suitors wanted. Going to take around £25 million.

“Wolves and Tottenham very seriously looking. Newcastle United one to watch.”

Players stepping up from the Championship, especially young players, can be a tricky gauntlet to run, but Alex Scott appears to be the real deal.

If we do sign him, we just have to be wary not to let him fester in our reserves and ensure he has adequate opportunity to develop.
