Journalist says Spurs player is ‘in no rush to leave’ despite lack of game time

Contrary to some of the reports over the last couple of days, Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has revealed that Bryan Gil is not particularly keen on leaving Tottenham Hotspur during the current transfer window.

It has emerged following the arrival of Timo Werner at Spurs that Gil could be made available on loan (Estadio Deportivo), with reports indicating on Tuesday that both Fiorentina and Feyenoord are keen on signing the 22-year-old on a temporary deal (Fabrizio Romano).

In fact, it has even been suggested over the last 24 hours that Feyenoord are now preparing their opening loan offer for the Spaniard and are hopeful of convincing the player to make a switch to De Kuip (1908.nl).

Bryan Gil is not keen on leaving Tottenham yet

However, Thomas has now said that the Tottenham man is not in a particular rush to seal a loan move away from Hotspur Way.

The former Sevilla man is alleged to be happy at the North London club and is said to be enjoying the training sessions and matches under Ange Postescoglou.

Thomas confirmed that Fiorentina and Feyenoord are eyeing moves for Gil but he said that it is not clear at the moment if Spurs will allow the Spain international to leave on loan.

The journalist told Sky Sports’ live transfer blog: “Bryan Gil is in no rush to leave Tottenham. The winger is happy at Spurs and enjoying a positive relationship with head coach Ange Postecoglou.

‘The Spaniard is enjoying the way Spurs play and train and, although he has not started many games this season, has regularly been used as a sub. Fiorentina and Feyenoord are among the teams interested in taking him on loan.

“It is not clear yet whether he will go on loan despite Spurs being set to bring in forward Timo Werner on loan. Heung-Min Son is at the Asia Cup and Tottenham are not blessed with an abundant squad.”

With Son potentially set to be away at the Asian Cup until the first or second week of February, Tottenham may wait towards the end of the transfer window to loan out Gil as Postecoglou would not want to risk leaving himself short of options upfront.
