Ben Jacobs has said that while Tottenham Hotspur are keen on landing Santiago Gimenez, the North London club are only expected to make a move for the Feyenoord star next summer.
Some people might have written off Gimenez as a one-season wonder on the back of his outstanding campaign at De Kuip in 2022-23, with his goals helping Feyenoord to a historic Eredivisie title win.
However, the centre-forward has proved that last campaign was far from a flash in the pan, continuing his outstanding scoring record for Arne Slot’s man this season.
The Dutchman’s brilliant displays in the Champions League have seemingly put to rest any doubts over his ability to score goals at the highest level.
That is perhaps why Tottenham are thought to be quite keen on the Mexican international, with several reports over the past couple of months claiming that the Lilywhites view the player as a potential heir to Harry Kane (Mirror).
However, Journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed in his column on Football Insider last month that Feyenoord have no intention of letting their star striker leave mid-season and have slapped a £60m price tag on the player to warn off suitors.

Spurs to put off pursuit of Gimenez until the summer
Jacobs has now confirmed that Gimenez is a ‘concrete target’ for Ange Postecoglou’s men but he suggested that the centre-forward is not going to leave the Dutch club this month unless there is a monstrous offer.
The journalist said on The Last Word on Spurs podcast: “Yeah I think that Tottenham are assessing if they can bring in a wide forward or a goalscorer. I think a really concrete target is Santiago Gimenez, but that’s one for the summer.
“There will be no exit as I’m aware in January, or if there is to be one it would be an incredible amount of money for Feyenoord.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Feyenoord’s decision to put off Gimenez’s sale until next summer suits Spurs, given that Postecoglou is not prioritising a number nine in the current transfer window. Hence why Tottenham have gone for more of a versatile wide forward in Timo Werner.
It will be interesting to see which centre-forward Tottenham will pursue next summer, with the club seemingly continuing to watch Gimenez, Dominic Solanke, Serhou Guirassy and perhaps even Ivan Toney.
