The Telegraph’s Matt Law has said that Tottenham Hotspur will move for Conor Gallagher only if Chelsea’s asking price for the player drops substantially.
In the report, the journalist backs up what we have heard from other sources by stating that Ange Postecoglou wants to make three new additions in January – a centre-back, a number eight and a winger.
Law says that filling all three positions in January may prove difficult for the Lilywhites and would likely depend on the outgoings.
Speaking specifically about the midfield situation, he suggests that Postecoglou’s hopes of landing a number eight are likely to rest on whether Spurs are able to offload Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Spurs will only sign Gallagher if a midfielder leaves
The journalist points out that Tottenham showed interest in Gallagher previously but he reveals that the North London club were not willing to match the £50m that Chelsea demanded for the 23-year-old.
He adds that unless the Blues drop their asking price for the England international dramatically, a move across London to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is not on the cards for the player.

I would fully expect Postecoglou to insist on a midfielder (ideally Gallagher) to be brought through the door first before Hojbjerg is given the green light to leave.
With Sarr and Bissouma set to travel to AFCON, and with Bentancur still a while away from a return, the Australian cannot afford to lose another body in the middle of the park.
