Journalist says Tottenham could be priced out of a move for 21-year-old

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that while Tottenham are interested in Goncalo Inacio, the North London club could be priced out of the move for the Sporting Lisbon star.

Inacio might have only turned 22 a couple of months ago but he is vastly experienced for his age, having been a mainstay in Sporting’s backline for over three years.

The centre-back has now won five international caps for Portugal and looks ready to make a step up to a bigger stage, with reports over recent weeks indicating that Spurs are keeping a keen eye on him ahead of the January window ((Fabrizio Romano – CaughtOffisde).

The likes of Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal had also been credited with an interest in the young centre-back (Jornal de Noticias via Sport Witness).

Just a few days ago, TEAMtalk handed a boost to Inacio’s suitors by revealing that while Sporting were initially demanding that the player’s £52m release clause be met, they had now dropped their asking price down to just £39m.

Goncalo Inacio may be too expensive for Spurs

Jacobs has now become the latest journalist to report on Tottenham’s interest in Inacio, revealing that the North London side have held internal discussions about the Sporting star.

However, he adds that the Portuguese club’s asking price for the centre-back is ‘an issue’ for the Lilywhites, who ‘won’t be able to spend big’ in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham would not be looking forward to the prospect of negotiating with Sporting again after being scarred by the Portuguese club’s unprofessional conduct during the Pedro Porro talks a year ago. So, I would be quite surprised if the club pushed ahead with a move for Inacio.
