Journalist says Tottenham now have their eye on Argentine midfielder

Journalist Emmanuel Luiz has named Tottenham Hotspur as one of four Premier League clubs tracking Argentine sensation Federico Redondo.

Just this summer, Spurs signed a young Argentine starlet who was taking the Primera Division by storm, with the North Londoners paying £13m to land Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central.

The 20-year-old has already made three senior appearances for the Lilywhites and it has been suggested by some sources that the striker is expected to be fast-tracked, having won over Ange Postecolgou and his coaching staff (Sean Walsh – Talking Transfers Podcast).

Tottenham are looking at Federico Redondo

It now turns out that Spurs are looking to raid the South American country for another of their precious gems in Redondo.

The midfielder has won several admirers both domestically as well as in the Copa Libertadores this season and it seems like it is only a matter of time before he receives a call-up to the Albiceleste set-up.

Luiz has now said that the 20-year-old’s displays have not gone unnoticed by English clubs.

The journalist told The Redmen TV Podcast: “What I can tell you right now, there is a guy here in Latin America called Federico Redondo, he is from Argentina Juniors, Fluminense are looking at him to be the replacement of Andre, but clubs in the big six are looking for Redondo to buy him right now or loan him.

“Clubs like Fulham, Wolverhampton are looking to get him right now, clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham, teams in the big six, I don’t know which other teams from the big six are looking at him too.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Tottenham have modified their transfer strategy and are now looking closely at the best-emerging talent from South America.

If Spurs do hold a serious interest in Redondo, perhaps the presence of a big Argentine and Spanish-speaking contingent at the club would help convince the youngster about moving to N17.
