Italian football journalist Ciro Venerato has claimed that he has spoken to Tottenham Hotspur’s new managing director of football, Fabio Paratici about one potential transfer target.
Venerato poured cold water on the prospect of Italian forward Lorenzo Insigne moving to North London after he claimed he had spoken to Paratici moments before going live on air with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
The Napoli player revealed earlier this week that he had spoken to his former manager Gennaro Gattuso recently who Gattuso claimed that there was a “bit of a mess” at Tottenham after being linked with the vacant head coach position (Football Italia).
Insigne is entering the final year of his contract and the captain is yet to put pen to paper on an extension with his boyhood club, but it appears that Paratici has ruled out any chance of a move of the striker moving to England.
In quotes relayed by Area Napoli, the journalist told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli: “Thirty minutes ago, I had an exchange of messages with Fabio Paratici, now manager (director) of Tottenham. He told me that Insigne will not land in the Premier League.”
Insigne has had an impressive Euro 2020 but whether the diminutive forward would be the answer to Spurs if Harry Kane left is questionable. Tottenham certainly need another forward this summer regardless of Kane’s future, having previously decided to recruit more of a target man which fans saw with Fernando Llorente and Carlos Vinicius.
