Journalist suggest Spurs have abandoned chase for 24-year-old

Tottenham will not be making an offer for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish this summer, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now revealed.

Grealish is a long-term target for Spurs, with the Sun claiming that the Lilywhites blew a chance to sign the midfielder for just £6 million back in the summer of 2018.

The Aston Villa star has been in terrific form since that failed move to Spurs as his performances helped the club to promotion, as well as thriving in the Premier League this season.

Grealish’s reported value has thus skyrocketed with the Daily Star revealing that Manchester United are willing to £70 million to bring him to Old Trafford.

Gold has now revealed that Spurs have been priced out of a move for the Villa star as they are unlikely to be able to spend big money on any player this window due to the financial coronavirus crunch.

He suggests that the position is not a priority for Spurs owing to Giovani Lo Celso’s excellent displays this season and it is said that the Lilywhites likely won’t move for the 24-year-old even if Villa get relegated.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even before the financial crunch due to the pandemic, I didn’t think we had a chance of signing Grealish given how much his value had gone up. I expect Villa to lower their rumoured £70 million valuation but I still don’t think we will bid for him. It looks almost certain that he is going to end up at Manchester United.
