Journalist suggests £60m man could replace Harry Kane at Tottenham

Journalist Dean Jones has written in his column on GiveMeSport that Tottenham Hotspur may already have a replacement for Harry Kane in the form of Richarlison.

Richarlison has not had the expected impact in his first season in North London following his £60m switch from Everton last summer.

In fact, the 25-year-old has found the back of the net just three times across all competitions, with only one of those goals coming in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

Jones has now stated that securing a replacement for Kane would be one of the first discussion points at Tottenham this summer as the club’s hierarchy decide whether to keep hold of the centre-forward this summer.

The journalist suggests that securing a replacement would be far easier if the Lilywhites cash in on the England captain this summer in order to fund a move for a big name rather than letting the 29-year-old leave on a free transfer in 2024.

He asserts that the possibility of Kane leaving N17 is ‘genuine’ and adds that the situation might open up a chance for Richarlison to potentially play as a number nine, thus getting his Tottenham career up and running.

I do not think it would be fair to judge Richarlison based purely on his goal return this season, given the injuries he has had and the fact that he has not had many opportunities to play through the middle.

The 25-year-old has shown that he can be quite effective as a centre-forward while playing for Brazil as well as during his time at Goodison Park.

Having said that, one would expect Spurs to sign a big-name replacement for Kane if the England captain departs this summer.
