Journalist suggests Arsenal still in the race to sign Spurs target

According to Sport Italia journalist Gianluigi Longari, Arsenal still retain hope of beating Tottenham to the signing of Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham have been left frustrated in their pursuits of Wolves’ Adama Traore and Porto’s Luis Diaz over the past week, with the two players expected to complete moves to Barcelona (Sky Sports) and Liverpool (The Athletic) respectively.

David Ornstein revealed yesterday that after being frustrated in their attempts to sign the two aforementioned players, Spurs had entered into negotiations with Juventus for Kulusevski.

This was then followed by a report from La Repubblica, who claimed that Tottenham had moved into pole position to sign the Sweden international ahead of their North London rivals Arsenal.

However, Longari has now taken to social media to reveal that the Gunners are still lurking ‘in the background’ for Kulusevski.

The journalist stated that Spurs are in negotiations with Juventus on an initial loan deal for the 21-year-old with an option to buy him permanently that would become an obligation if certain conditions are met.

One would assume that Paratici’s connections with Juve and his relationship with Kulusevski’s entourage, would give Spurs an advantage over Arsenal in the negotiations.

Following the collapse of our pursuit of Traore and Diaz, it would be an unmitigated disaster if Arsenal somehow manage to pip up to the Swede’s signature.
