Journalist suggests Inter Milan director is now trying to find buyers for Spurs target

Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed that Inter Milan director, Piero Ausilio, is in England trying to find buyers for some of the the club’s stars, including goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is wanted by Tottenham.

Spurs snapped up Ivan Perisic on a free transfer after his contract with Inter ran out last summer.

The North London club have since been credited with an interest in several Nerazzurri players including Milan Skriniar (TEAMTalk), Stefan de Vrij (Football Insider), Denzel Dumfries (FC Inter News), Alessandro Bastoni (InterLive.it) and Hakan Calhanoglu (CMW.it).

Another player who has recently been mooted as a target for the Lilywhites is Onana, with 90 min reporting last week that the Cameroonian is on Tottenham’s radar as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris.

The report added that Inter need to raise funds through player sales to balance their books in the summer, and had notified Premier League clubs about the availability of their number one.

Bailey has now also backed up Spurs’ interest in Onana, revealing that Antonio Conte’s men showed interest in the 26-year-old when he was at Ajax.

The journalist told TEAMtalk: “Inter Milan are a team to watch this summer.

“Their sporting director, Piero Ausilio, was in England last week meeting with numerous clubs, but they were not shopping for talent but making it known that they had talent on offer for Premier League clubs.

“Ausilio is believed to have met with a handful of clubs, talking subjects such as Romelu Lukaku’s future and also making an offer for Bournemouth’s number two Neto to become the backup at the San Siro.

“However, he was also pushing forward potential sales and the club’s owners Suning are looking for profits to be made of up to £50m.

“One issue they have is that they won’t be selling Milan Skriniar, who is going to leave on a free transfer likely to PSG this summer.

“Their other players in contention to be sold include Denzel Dumfries, who was already being looked at by a host of clubs over the past few months including Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

“However, there are others including left-back Federico Dimarco – who has been watched Manchester City in recent weeks – and also goalkeeper Andre Onana.

“Onana joined Inter from Ajax last summer, but he could now be allowed to leave after just 12 months in Milan.

“Tottenham are very much one to keep an eye on. They liked him a lot before he moved to Milan.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Of all of Inter’s players, I suspect Alessandro Bastoni would be the one who is of most interest to Tottenham, particularly if Antonio Conte decides to stay at the club beyond the summer.

It does not seem like the 23-year-old is one of the players that the Serie A club want to cash in on but their stance will obviously change if they are unable to tie the centre-back down to a new contract before the summer.
