The Daily Star journalist Paul Brown has said that he does not expect Tottenham to make any more big signings before the transfer window slams shut.

Tottenham have secured the services of six players so far this summer in the form of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence.

The Evening Standard reported last week that the North London club are now prioritising selling the players who are surplus to requirements.

The report added that Tottenham could still move for another centre-back and a creative midfielder this window once they trim their squad.

Over recent days, Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Nicolo Zaniolo, with reports indicating that the Premier League club are willing to meet Roma asking price of €50m (£42.5m) for the winger (La Repubblica 22/07/22 – via Sport Witness).

However, Brown insisted that he would be surprised if Antonio Conte’s men make another big-money signing during the current window.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I suspect that most of Spurs’ business is done.

“They are still looking in certain areas but I don’t think they’re looking particularly hard because they’ve spent quite a lot of money already.

“I can’t see another big signing suddenly rocking up at the club. I could be wrong. We’ll see.”

Now that Tottenham have addressed the key weaknesses in their squad, the club can now be patient and look for market opportunities that open up from now until the end of the window.

Zaniolo looks like one such opportunity that the club want to take advantage of. However, I expect Spurs to sell their deadwood first and would not be surprised if they waited until the final days of the window to make other luxury additions.
