Journalist suggests three main promises Levy will make to Conte during talks

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has said that Daniel Levy will promise Antonio Conte that Tottenham will challenge rival clubs for big signings in order to get the Italian to commit his future.

There has been plenty said and written about Conte’s future over the last few months, which is not surprising considering that the Spurs boss’ current deal runs out next summer and he does not tend to stay at clubs for too long.

However, The Athletic reported last week that Spurs are confident that the 53-year-old will put pen to paper on a long-term deal at the club.

It was explained that the Tottenham hierarchy had resumed talks over a contract with Conte’s entourage, with negotiations not just set to focus o the salary, the length of the deal and the potential break clause but also on the club’s plans for January.

It was explained that the Italian is ‘especially keen to know’ whether the club share the same ambitions as he does.

O’Rourke has now claimed that Levy will make it clear to Conte that he wants to do whatever it takes to get Spurs challenging for silverware.

The journalist told ThisIsFutbol: “So I think the main promise will be that funds will be made available and that Spurs will be challenging for silverware and challenging all the rival clubs for the big signatures that are out there in January and next summer.”

While Tottenham are not going to be able to compete financially with the likes of Man City, I do believe Levy will be ready to gamble a bit over the next few transfer windows in order to satisfy Conte and give him a decent shot of winning silverware.
