Journalist suggests why Adama Traore could be stalling on Spurs move

Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto has revealed that Adama Traore is yet to give the green light for a move to Tottenham Hotspur as he is aware of Barcelona’s interest in him.

Last week, it seemed as if Traore was set to become Tottenham’s first signing of the Antonio Conte era after it was reported that the North London club had agreed on a fee with Wolves for the pacy winger (Football Insider).

However, with only days left until the transfer window closes, there has been no official announcement forthcoming on the matter.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Wednesday on Matt Hayes’ YouTube channel (from 04:40) why the move had not gone through yet, explaining that there was still quite a big gap between Wolves’ valuation and what Spurs are willing to pay for the 25-year-old.

Moretto has now suggested that Traore himself has doubts over whether a move to Spurs would be the right next step for him.

The journalist revealed that the winger has been informed by his Spanish teammates that Barcelona admire him, the club he played for as an academy player.

Moretto adds that a move to the Catalonian giants is a ‘real option’ for Traore if Ousmane Dembele leaves the Camp Nou.

It is far from ideal for the one signing which looked certain to through, to seemingly be falling through in the final few days of the window.

However, one would think that Spurs would not be playing hardball on the fee unless they are confident of getting the deal done or have other alternatives lined up.
